Kauai - The Garden Island

The Big Island (Hawai'i) is home to some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. Well, see for yourself.
We stayed at the Kilauea Military Camp, Volcanoes National Park. KMC is about a forty minute drive from the airport, at 4,000 feet near Mauna Loa.

The 'dark river' was the most recent flow from Mauna Loa. Unfortunately, it stopped flowing just before we arrived :(

The next two shots are of the shore and the famous 'Blacksand Beach'. The beach was simply beautiful...
It was incredibly windy- ask Karen about her 'windblown' look. Hmm - she cut her hair right after this trip. Coincidence? I think not...
